About the WBA... The Wesleyan Beekeepers Association was started in 2001 with the efforts of Dr. Dan Margolies to incorporate apicuture on the Virginia Wesleyan campus. The president of the college, Dr. William "Billy" Greer was enthusiastic about the incorporation of beekeeping and allowed Dr. Margolies to place a few hives on campus. In 2002, Dr. Margolies taught a Beekeeping class during the 3-week winter session which resulted in an incredible interest coming from the community and campus which allowed the Wesleyan Beekeepers Association to develop. In the spring of 2003, the WBA installed several packages of bees that arrived in April. Over the summer, the new hives brought many interesting learning experiences. To schedule a trip to the hives, contact Erin Wolfgang.
