Why join? Tri Sigma is a wonderful learning experience. Tri Sigma promotes a perpetual bond of friendship, develops strong womanly character, and inspires high standards of ethical conduct. It is an experience that will prepare you for life, leadership, and commitment after college.
Hazing-
Tri Sigma has
signed a no hazing policy. Along
with that, Virginia Wesleyan College does not permit it.
We cherish our newest members for choosing us;
no hazing is tolerated in this chapter.
Dues- Dues change semester to semester. The first semester a woman is in will be the most expensive. Don’t let this scare you. It is more expensive because they have to pay badge fee, initiation fee, membership fee, etc. along with regular chapter operations. Woman can also set up a payment plan with the Treasurer to fit their schedule if necessary.
Time commitment- Time is valuable. Tri Sigma hands out a calendar at the beginning of each semester to let the chapter know what dates to look forward to. Other dates will be discussed in chapter meetings. We believe that a woman’s studies and sports team come first and foremost.
GPA- The minimum GPA that is required for recruitment for the Zeta Pi Chapter at Virginia Wesleyan College is a 2.6. For a member to stay in good standing they will have to maintain a 2.6. If it falls below, they will have study hours in the library. Zeta Pi has the highest average GPA on campus so a sister is always willing to help out another sister in need.
Housing- Tri Sigma has a residential suite on campus. In our national bylaws it states that Tri Sigma has to have dry housing. There are no alcoholic parties or anything of that nature allowed.
Is Greek life the same in real life as portray on TV? No!! What portrayed on TV is not the same as in real life. Some Greek chapters have been an experience, but any Greek Sorority or Fraternity at Virginia Wesleyan College does not believe in them.
