I was born in Dakar, Senegal in January 1984. Fortunately, my father was a trained agricultural economist who always held positions of great responsibility. We lived in Senegal until I was 15, but I attended an excellent French lycee there. From 1996 to 1998, my father was posted to Ghana as a food security officer for the United Nations Food and Agricultural Organization, and I had the opportunity to visit Ghana during holidays. This was my first real international experience. In 1998, my father was transferred to Rome, which gave me the opportunity to live in Italy and to develop my knowledge of Europe. Again, I attended a French lycee, and I added Italian to my languages. (I speak French, English, Italian, Wolof,
and Bambara). So the main thing to know about me, I suppose, is that I come from a rather privileged African background and that I have developed an international outlook.
