Philanthropy
The Philanthropy of Phi Sigma Sigma is the Phi Sigma Sigma Foundation which supports the National Kidney Foundation.
The National Kidney Foundation was selected in 1970 as the Phi Sigma Sigma Foundation's primary philanthropy. At the time kidney disease was a major crippler of women. The Phi Sigma Sigma Foundation's mission is to generate funds for the educational and philanthropic activities of the fraternity, encourage lifelong learning and engage in charitable endeavors. The funds given to the Phi Sigma Sigma Foundation go to support Kidney research, award scholarships and grants to deserving Phi Sigma Sigma sisters, host educational programs and sponsor events like the U.S. Transplant Games. In June 2006, the Phi Sigma Sigma Foundation served as a bronze level sponsor of the games held in Louisville, KY. The Games are an Olympic-style event, held every two years, for athletes who have received life-saving organ transplants of every type. The goals for the games are to increase public awareness of the critical need for organ donation, to demonstrate the success of transplants and to increase awareness in the transplant community on the benefits of fitness and well-being though transplant athletic programs. This year the games will be held July 12-14th, 2008 in Pittsburgh, PA. The Epsilon Sigma chapter will be sending a group of ladies to participate.
Every semester our chapter hosts a Rock-a-thon to raise money for the Phi Sigma Sigma Foundation.

We rock for 24 hours straight with a collection jar at our feet. The weeks before we talk to family, friends and faculty asking for sponsors to donate to the cause. Our next Rock-a-thon will be held April 19th-20th, 2008 in and around the Batten Student Center. If you want more information or wish to help us raise money for our Philanthropy, please contact our Philanthropy and Service chairman.

Service
One of the core values of Phi Sigma Sigma is Leadership through Service. We attempt to live by this ideal by participating in or hosting a service project at least once a month.
In the past we have held towel collection drives for the animal shelter, helped run special Olympics on campus, participated in Marlin's Make a Difference Day, crafted inspirational picture frames for a Nursing home and appreciation jars for the faculty, sponsored the Angel Tree on campus, teamed up with Community Service for Cooking for Kids and we have much more planned for the future.

Service to others is an important aspect to Phi Sigma Sigma and we always have fun doing it! Anyone interested in participating in service projects with us or who have suggestions for future events, please contact our Philanthropy and Service chairman.
