Herzlich Willkommen

German is the native language of approximately 118,000,000 people, and is primarily spoken in Austria, Germany, and Switzerland. However, German speaking immigrants/emigrants have settled in areas world - wide, which explains the many small German speaking areas around the world.

German is a very beneficial language to learn if you want to succeed in the business world. For the past decade Germany, Japan, and the US have held the top three positions for import/export trade.

German is also helpful if you are interested in philosophy, psychology, history, and the arts. For example, Nietzsche, Marx, and Freud all wrote in German.

The German Honor Society Delta Phi Alpha at Virginia Wesleyan college offers German students a greater appreciaton of the German culture. The purpose of this website is to offer backround information on gaining a degree in German at VWC, and also to provide links to German businesses in the Hampton roads area, and links to other german websites. Thank you for visiting our website and we hope that you enjoyed your visit with Delta Phi Alpha at Virginia Wesleyan College.
