Ever wonder how to keep in touch with your friends at VWC after graduation? In order to stay in the net, alumni are registering accounts on FishNet right after they graduate. FishNet, created in spring 2007, is an alumni online community just for VWC students. It has many useful resources.

FishNet lets you upload your resume and search for other alumni by job, said Lisa Black, director of alumni relations, but it most commonly is used to search for lost classmates.

FishNet allows you to create your own personal profile with your picture and contact information. It may also include what you re doing now and what you did during your college years. There is a searchable online directory to find new and old friends or possibly to meet other Wesleyan alumni who you may share similar interests with. People can search by name, year of graduation, organization name, major, or even by nickname. As long as the person has a public profile, you are able to connect with old friends wherever they may be living, without even leaving your house.

It s basically an online directory with more benefits, said Black.

Alumni announcements such as weddings, births, and employment updates are easy to post and share as well. FishNet allows you to keep in touch with alumni and find out what they are doing with their Wesleyan degree.

From a faculty standpoint, I like to try to connect VWC Alumni with current students as much as possible and FishNet generates that opportunity. said Paul Ewell, Assistant Professor of MBE. Whether it s internship opportunities, career networking or simply getting alum to come speak to my classes, FishNet has the opportunity to serve these networking needs.

There are currently 7,253 people in the alumni community and the alumni association hopes it will only continue to grow.
