Exposing ourselves in public

C.L. Lindsay of the Coalition for Student and Academic Rights (CO-STAR), gave a harrowing talk Mar. 4 about the dangers college students face using the Internet. His examples ran the gamut from illegal downloading of music and movies to incriminating pictures, online stalking and extortion.

Lindsay opened his presentation with photos of students drinking, most underage, all taken from their Facebook accounts. His point was obvious — with a little know-how and a Facebook account, he was able to access all kinds of images, showing how easy it is to find someone’s info.

The Internet guarantees anything but anonymity.
