If you are bored on campus and do not play a varsity sport, but still wish to be active, RecX has options: sports clubs. These clubs not only bring students closer together, but allow them to excel in a sport which competes at a high level.

The clubs offered around campus include Equestrian, In-Line Hockey, Surf, Indoor Field Hockey and Swim.

Additionally, our campus provides RecX with quality equipment and locations to participate in these clubs. There is the state-of-the-art climbing wall located in the Batten Center as well as the all-purpose C-MAC.

If you think you’re not good enough to play for any of these clubs, it’s not true. You can be at any skill level and still be able to participate and have fun.

“We want students to come together and share a common interest,” stated RecX coordinator Jason Seward.

Virginia Wesleyan College sports clubs are gaining awareness around campus. Several new clubs have started, which include Climbing, Rugby and Hunting/Fishing. Furthermore, most of these clubs are venturing outside of campus which makes for a more exciting experience.

“These clubs are new to campus, and are a growing interest,” said Seward.

The sport clubs meet on a monthly schedule, which is posted on flyers around campus and sent in e-mails to let the student body know what’s going on with each one.

If you’re worried that people don’t attend the meetings or games for the clubs, senior Ryan Ferguson, an active player in the In-Line Hockey Club, will tell you differently.

“We have a good amount of people turn out every Thursday night,” he said.

If you want more information contact Seward at ext. 2124.
