What’s on your Christmas list?

Nov. 23, more commonly known to the public as Black Friday, marked the beginning of the holiday shopping season. The malls and every other store in your area have started playing Christmas music and put up the holiday decorations. But what is that hot item that’s topping everybody’s list this year? For Virginia Wesleyan students, items can include things needed for their move into VillageVI.

“Futons, I’m moving into my townhouse and I really want a futon,” said sophomore Trish Wilhelm.

For the girlfriend in your life I would recommend jewelry. Stores like Kay Jewelers usually have necklaces, earrings and bracelets that I know she would love. The new Ipod Nano would work too. It retails for $149.99, and you can get it engraved. I would recommend, this so it looks like you put an extra special touch into her gift. Things Remembered is always good; a cute picture frame with your names engraved on it will melt her heart with out melting your pockets. One thing I would stray away from is clothes. While buying her a sweatshirt or sports apparel is fine, your girlfriend may get upset if you buy a size too big or too small. One option if funds are really low is to do something together.

“I think going on a date is nice, because it’s about spending time together,” said junior Scott Montgomery.

Speaking of guys, girls, does it seem impossible to buy your guy something that he is going to use and not just sit on his desk until it gets broken? Then I would suggest getting him his favorite DVDs.

You can make a miniature date out of it as well. Make a gift basket with popcorn and candy; you can even monogram a blanket that has your names on it to add a personal touch. You can also buy him his favorite video game. With the recent release of Guitar Hero 3, he may be dropping hints already.

If there is something that you both really want that is expensive split the cost. Want to go on Spring Break together? Offer to pay for the hotel room, or help with each other’s ticket.

You don’t have to drop a whole bunch of money to make your holiday special. Make a frame or get take out and snuggle up with a TV movie.
