What scares you?

There is nothing scarier than attending a college Halloween party with girls in barely-there costumes and guys in equally disgusting ensembles…or is there?
In recent years ghost hunting has become popular. It is a pastime or hobby for most, but some argue that it is a science. Last year VWC brought in a ghost hunter to talk to students and go on a ghost hunt in the arboretum. Maybe this year he will come back and look at some of the places that are supposedly haunted on campus.
This area is full of hauntings that a potential ghost hunter could investigate. Right on campus both the Hofheimer Library and Rose Hall are said to have spirits lurking about. The entire area of Old Towne Portsmouth is rumored to be haunted and they even have a ghost walk every Halloween. Another popular haunting is Elbow Road in Virginia Beach.
Ghost hunting is a great opportunity to test your beliefs in the paranormal and scare yourself and your friends. Even if you don’t believe in ghosts, walking around in a dark, supposedly haunted place will still give you a thrill. It’s like watching a horror movie. You know it is not true, but you’re still scared. Try driving down Elbow Road late Halloween night and see if you see the ghost of Mrs. Woble, or just talk to a professional ghost hunter and see what he or she has to say.
I have had my own experiences with the paranormal. Whether they were truly spirits or just my imagination, I don’t know. I do know that it would take a lot of persuasion to get me to go on a real ghost hunt and do what ghost hunters do.
So this Halloween, if you decide to party it up or go try to hunt down some ghosts, be safe and have fun.
