Parking Problems continue to plague
commuters
The only solutions are to upgrade and expand
the parking lots
by Stephanie Stevenson
Parking. Everyone knows it is a bear here at VWC, but nobody knows better than those of us who are commuters.
As I drive into any random lot on campus, I am often faced with many dilemmas. Sometimes cars are parked too close to the lines so it makes it impossible to fit my car into the last available space. Other times there are no spaces left at all, so I have to circle around endlessly until someone leaves; or I have to park over at the baseball complex.
Quite often there are spaces open in the faculty areas, but who wants to face a $25 parking ticket?
Where does that money go? Maybe they could use the money from the parking tickets and decals to make a special designated lot for the resident students who leave their cars sitting in the closest spaces for weeks at a time. If that isnt possible, the least they could do is improve or enlarge the already existing lots.
Why cant we have regular rectangular lots that fit twice as many cars and create less problems? What is the purpose of the lots being circular anyway? So they look pretty from the sky?
VWC has a serious issue here that needs to be faced and no amount of parking tickets are going to fix it. Until something is done to improve the parking lots or until more are made available, people are still going to create their own spots and even more problems may occur.
