| 9-12-07 | 45 mains | Bear Making | The bear making activity was fun. It gave us an opportunity to just chill out and in the mean time do something for a good cause. I stuffed the bears, it was a good experience, I never knew stuffing them took that much effort to get all the cotton inside It was a good feeling. I hope the kids liked them! They were adorable! |
| 9-22-07 | 6 hours | Gleaning | Gleaning is definitely something that I would not want to do if I were a farmer. It was hot out and the tomatoes smelled really bad but it was nice to know that we were doing something for a good cause, that people who can't afford food, could eat those tomatoes. |
| 9-29-07 | 3 hours | homeless shelter at F.O.R Kids | We went to the homeless shelter, F.O.R Kids. There were different activities to do such as landscaping, cleaning the inside or doing envelopes. I did the envelopes, we stuffed them for three hours, they were for the newsletter and asking for donations to help out the families that they house. |
| 10-12-07 | 2 hours | Setting up fair at Sherwood Forest | I volunteered at my mom's school where she teaches. I help set up for the fair they were having for the kids on the following day. It was nice knowing that the students would have something fun to do that was school related, instead of being out in the dangerous neighborhood that surrounds the school. They had different games such as ring toss and different activities for the students to participate in. |
| 11-21-07 | 6 hours | helping at Sherwood Forest Elementary | I went to the school and helped in my moms class room and with her students. I helped out with papers and grading. It was really weird seeing how much students and schools have changed since I was in elementary school. Students now are so needy for attention and affection. Doing service at the school made me realize how much I do not want to major in education. The generations to come are definitely different. |
