Dates for Neighborhood Tutoring
|
During the days to the bottom left, I
absolutely, positively, WITHOUT A DOUBT, enjoyed
every single one of those kids! My child's name was Asia. She was a blast
to work with. Each Thursday, she had something new to tell me, show me, or
even (and get this), TEACH me. Asia was so smart and adorable. Her smile
was the highlight of my day, despite whatever obstacles I may have
encountered that day. I found myself looking forward to seeing her and
helping her with her work...Her work wasn't always easy though. There were
even some assignments that threw me for a loop. I never knew 4th grade
math could be that difficult! Teaching her was a true challenge, yet a
joy, because not only did it require me to reach deep down and sort of
"transform" my thoughts into the mind of a 4th grader, but it
also gave me the opportunity to be a kid again. I enjoyed coloring with
her and playing hangman. We even played jump rope outside only for her to
beat me in the challenge...Go figure.
Overall, Asia was a light in my life that I would have never experienced had it not been for the chance to work as a tutor. I didn't do her a favor, she did ME one. It was a service I will never take lightly. Hopefully, I will even be able to re-join for the upcoming semester!
