Bear stuffing and sewing

CHKD

September 12, 2007  

12:30-3:00

 In class we made teddy bears for kids at CHKD. It was really fun. I started stuffing the bears but it was hard and they had to have the right amount of stuffing but not too much. Then I started sewing becuase know one wanted to sew so Ari and I started to sew. We did really good if I say so myself. It felt really good making the bears for the little kids. I wanted one. They were so cute.

Cooking for Kids

6:30-8:30

 Thursday night my friends and I went to Cooking for Kids. We made pasta. I was really fun. It felt really good to make food for kids. We all got chief hats.

  REACH is an organization that goes into the homeless shelters and reads to the kids that are in the home. We read to the kids and then we do a craft with them and then they get to pick out 2 books to take with them. I felt really good reading to the kids and do a craft with them. They were really good kids and it was fun.

 Tutoring

    November 17

 I tutored a friend of mine that, still in high school, was having trouble in AP US History. She was having trouble remembering dates and facts that went with the wars they had covered. I quizzed her on the Civil war and the Boston tea party for her upcoming exam. I felt really good helping her and teaching her tips on how to remember facts.
 REACH   November 19 

5:00-9:00

   REACH is an organization that goes into the homeless shelters and reads to the kids that are in the home. We read to the kids and then we do a craft with them and then they get to pick out 2 books to take with them. I felt really good reading to the kids and do a craft with them. They were really good kids and it was fun. I also cut out crafts-to-go so that other volunteers can just come and get the craft and then go to the shelters.
