Our Mission: Alpha Sigma Alpha is a women's organization that promotes high ideals and standards for its members throughout their lives by emphasizing balance among our four aims of intellectual, physical, spiritual, and social development. Alpha Sigma Alpha provides structure and guidance through: Sisterhood, which is a strong bond of unconditional friendship based on common values and experiences; Heritage, which is expressed through creed, ritual, and history; and, Opportunities for leadership and involvement in chapter, campus and community. Alpha Sigma Alpha was founded at Longwood University College, located in Farmville Virginia in 1901. The 5 woman that founded ASA are, Calva Watson Wootton, Louise Cox Carper, Virginia Boyd Noell, Juliette Hundley Gilliam and Mary Williamson Hundley. Our open motto is Aspire, Seek, Attain. Alpha Sigma Alpha's two national philanthropies are Special Olympics and S. June Smith. |
