COMMUNITY SERVICE BLOG!!!

DATE: TIME ACTIVITY REFLECTION
9/12/2007 4 HR BEAR MAKING The bear making activity was very fun. We got to stuff bears to give to children that were in hospitals. The reason I liked this activity so much because I know the children will be so happy to see the bears.
9/26/07 1 HR TUTORING FOR KIDS Tutoring for kids was a very fun experience. We got to know the kids very well and we also got to help them with any homework or questions they had. The reasons I enjoyed this community service so much was because I love being around kids and I enjoy helping them.
10/17  2 HR  COOKING FOR KIDS  Cooking for kids was a lot of fun, but at the same time very messy. I really enjoyed it because I knew the more food we made the more kids could eat. We ended up making more than what was required and I am very proud of myself and the other students that volunteered. My jobs were to clean the trays and to put the food in the containers to be sent out.
10/18  2 HR  HOMELESS SHELTER  The homeless shelter was a great experience because I have never volunteered at a homeless shelter before. The group and I would check each person that wanted to come to the shelter to eat, then we handed out fans, blankets, and pillows, so they could have a good night's rest. The final thing we did was give them dinner and set up a movie, so they could watch. My job was to take their items and put their names on them, so they could be returned to them the next day. My two friends and I made a lot of friends and I definitely learned a lot from this experience.
10/20  3 HR  CHEERLEADING COMPETITION The cheerleading competition was a lot of fun because not only could we watch the different cheer teams perform, but we also raised money for the girls lacrosse team. Our team raised money for our spring break trip to California. My job was to take care of the money, and also to inform the customers about our trip that we are taking and why we are going. My team and I get 20% of the profit of food sales and we also got donations from the customers.
10/30 2 HR  TRICK OR TREAT WITH LITTLE KIDS Walking the little kids around to let them trick or treat was  a lot of fun because I got to see how much fun they were having. It was a good experience because it gave me responsibility to take care of the kids and to walk around the campus with the families. We had to walk to each dorm, so the kids could get candy from the students. I was the "tour guide" for the group and I showed them around campus.
11/7  2 HR  COOKING FOR KIDS Cooking for Kids was a great turn out because we ended up making more food than we thought we were going to make. The dinner that we made for the children was a chili macaroni dish. It was a very messy experience, but I enjoyed it a lot knowing that more kids can eat due to how hard we worked. I really would love to be able to dish the food out to the children, so I can see how happy they are!

12/8  2 HR  TOYS FOR TOTS  This activity was a lot of fun because we had to go shopping for children's toys so that we can give it to children that are unfortunate to get Christmas  gifts. I really enjoyed this because I felt like I was helping out a lot of children even thought I don't even know the children that are receiving the gifts. I picked out gifts that would like to have if I was a child, so I really hope they like them.
