My Personality Test

The Myers-Briggs Personality Test allows someone to learn more about their personality, their future career, their strengths, and their weaknesses. It consists of four categories: where you get your energy from, how you gather your information, how you make your decisions or conclusions, and how you relate to your environment. Each category includes two extremes that you represent. The test includes 72 yes or no questions and after you take the test you receive a four letter code. The code that I received after taking the test was ENFJ. This code means that I am an extroverted, intuitive, feeling and judgmental person.

The Myers-Brigg Personality test said I am a high scoring extroverted person. Usually people who are extroverted tends to be out going, loud, speaks their mind, has a lot of friends, and can easily be distracted. The other side to this extreme is being introverted. Someone that is introverted is quiet, shy, likes to be in small groups, and thinks before they do something. I was a 100 percent extroverted and showed no signs of being introverted. From these results, I think that this describes me very well because I love to be around big groups especially my friends because I am not shy, I love to speak what is on my mind, I am open to anything, and I can never stay concentrated on what I am doing. I feel that I get all my energy from the outside world such as my friends. My weaknesses are being impulsive, impatient with routine, needing change, and needing people to work with.

The next letter on my code was Intuitive. People that can be described as being intuitive are usually creative, focus on the future, work out new ideas, see possibilities, and solve problems. The other side to this extreme was sensing. Someone that is a sensor is practical, can remember specific details, and is patient. My weaknesses are that I am inattentive to details, impatient, and lose sight from the here and now. I was 19 percent intuitive and that also means I also show some sensing characteristics. From these results, I believe that I am more sensing that intuitive. The way I gather information is being a patient person no matter what the situation is, concentrating on detail, and being systematic. One example that I would show being intuitive would be focusing on the future and by solving problems between my friends or myself.

The way I make decisions is by showing feeling. To me, someone that shows feeling is understanding to others, persuades, arouses, and understands needs and values. The other side to this extreme would be a thinker. A thinker is someone who is logical, analytical, objective, organized, and stands firm. My result shows that I am 38 percent feeling. From the results, I view myself showing feeling because I am an understanding person and I show how I feel towards others. My weaknesses would be not being organized and overly accepting. I do think logically, but I consider noticing other people’s feelings first.

The last letter of my code is judging. To me, someone that is judging shows planning is orderly, makes quick decisions, and remains with a task. The other side to this extreme would be a perceiver. A perceiver is someone who is compromising, sees all sides of an issue, flexible, and not judgmental. My results show that I am 11 percent judging. The environment that I feel most comfortable in is being a perceiver. The reason I feel this way is because I do not judge other people’s view or lifestyle. I am an open person and I can adjust to anything. My weaknesses would be indecisiveness, not good at planning, and is easily distracted.

My code, ENFJ, shows that I am responsive and can be considered a responsible person. I feel concern for what others think or want, and try to handle situations according to other’s feelings. I can lead a group discussion because I am social, sympathetic, and I can take criticism. Some job opportunities that I could pursue in the future could be an entertainer, teacher, sales trainer, alcohol/drug councilor, career councilor, recruiter, etc. The one career that I would love to pursue is a career in child welfare services. The reason I would love to do this job is because I love children.  By placing children in a safe environment and solving any issues the parents have, I can help resolve problems for both the children and the adults. I love hearing other people’s feelings and I am open to anything.

The Myers-Briggs Personality Test showed a lot about the thinking process and who I am. I feel that the test is very accurate and precise in there percentages.  This test allows people to see what they need to work on and what careers they can succeed in their future. The purpose of this test is not to show what weaknesses or strengths you have in different environments, but to show your future and what career would be the best fit for an individual.
