WHO: All SVEA/VEA/NEA members were invited to attend!
WHAT: Instructional & Professional Issues Conference
WHEN: November 5-6, 2004     WHERE: Williamsburg, VA

The IPI Conference was absolutely wonderful!  The abbreviated weekend was filled with inspiration, fresh ideas, and comradery capable only among educators.

Mrs. Seltzer and ten VWC students carpooled up to Williamsburg Friday afternoon.  Upon arrival, our very own Virginia Wesleyan SVEA was generously treated to a phenomenal dinner by the college.  Our fine dining experience was filled with delectable food and laughter!

The first gathering of a group of more than 500 members proved to be animated and  enlightening.  Friday night’s speaker, Dr. Adolph Brown, appeared in ghetto clothes and unknown, yet he left in a polished suit very well known and admired.  He spoke of Educating Today’s Child with stories from his turbulent childhood and his real life experiences.  Dr. Brown was very moving and captured the hearts of every educator in that auditorium.

The remainder of the conference continued to go above and beyond our expectations.  Between the delicious meals, we participated in a variety of breakout sessions receiving fabulous materials and information to help us become more informed and better educators.

We all had a great time getting to know each other better, meeting new people, and learning more about the most distinguished profession out there!
